Sweet Pick up Lines to Use on Girls

Pick up lines have gotten a bit of a bad rap over the years as being a lame or cheesy way to initiate conversation with women, but the fact of the matter is that pretty much any conversation opener could be defined as a pick up line anyway. “Hi” can be a pick up line (though not a particularly good one) so call these words whatever you want. Furthermore, half the reason why pick up lines have garnered such a negative stigma is because guys and girls resent men who are awesome at getting women. Here are a few great ideas on lines to use when first meeting a girl.
Humor and goofiness in a conversation opener can be absolutely golden. One of my absolute favorites (and one that comes off as cute and silly as opposed to forward or creepy) is the polar bear approach. Go up to a woman (this one can literally work anywhere, just so long as you're not pulling her away from something she's doing) and say “Excuse me. Do you know how much a polar bear weighs?” She'll likely respond with “uhhh” or “no”, and then you respond with “Enough to break the ice. Hi.” Reach out for a handshake and you're all but guaranteed to get a positive response. Even if you get the “I've heard that one” response (extremely unlikely) then ironically you've still broken the ice. You can say something along the lines of “Someone must be stealing my material” or “Dang, I should've just gone with 'you're hot' like I'd planned”. From this point it's a conversation.
A different approach to take with pick up lines is fabricating a real situation which might require a brief conversation with the person sitting or standing closest to you. For example; if you're sitting at a bar and you “inadvertently” drop your keys on the floor next to you and “don't notice” (even though the obvious gravity driven crash of the keys to the floor should be hard to miss; just time it with a bizarrely long beer chug and a “deep in thought” look on your face) then the person next to you will almost certainly either reach down to get your keys for you or tap you on the shoulder to inform you of your clumsiness. You can then respond with something like “Oh wow, guess I have to buy you a drink now.” This works about a thousand times better than the stock “Can I buy you a drink?” line without the key drop opener.
Girls love to enlighten you with their opinions. Using pick up lines that cater to this mindset can be quite effective. Sometimes making a girl think can be better than making her laugh (it might not have her endeared with you as quickly but it's better for making sure the conversation doesn't stagnate immediately after starting). Try asking a girl what she thinks of horoscopes, or what kind of haircut she thinks you should get. You'd be amazed how willing women are to talk about things that interest them, even with a complete stranger. You could also try bringing along a wingman along to the bar and having a makeshift argument about something stupid (plan it beforehand; avoid serious subjects like politics or religion), and then turning to a girl to and asking her to break the tie for the two of you with her own thoughts. As long as you and your friend play your roles believably, then this pick up method disguises itself exceptionally well. The goal is always to start a conversation; from there you can insert your personality and the possibilities increase tenfold (as opposed to trying to present your personality as an opener, which can be difficult).
In the realm of internet dating, pick up lines are an absolute must. Have no doubt that pretty girls on dating sites and social networking sites get tons of messages from interested men (for particularly hot girls on particularly popular sites like Myspace, several messages a week is probably not too uncommon), so in these situations you'll need lines that separate you from the crowd a bit. Corniness is a little more acceptable in online messages as opposed to face to face meetings; if a girl really didn't want advances from men on a social networking site then she could easily set her account up not to allow messaging from people she doesn't know. A general technique that has a pretty good success rate is making a cute little line for the header of the message and then something more substantive for the body of the message. An example of this would be sending a pretty Myspace girl a message titled “You're cuter than a koala bear” with a body saying something like “I really like your music taste too”. Just read the page and pick out something about it that you like to compliment her on. The silly line will get their attention and then the message underneath will give them the notion that you like what's behind the face as well. Ending the body of the message with a line like “I dare you to message me back” can garner some attention as well.
Using pick up lines to open up the gates of communication with people can be a great technique for getting to know women. So long as you steer clear of blatantly sexual, stupid or cliché lines then chances are that in the worst case scenario you'll leave the girl flattered and you'll realize that the risks of pick up lines are far outweighed by the potential reward. Don't stress yourself out worrying about being “that guy” either.. “That guy” is just a term for someone who has drawn attention, and I think that most men would agree that attention from pretty girls is a good thing.
