On May 30, 2022, I publicly stated that June, July and August 2022 would mark the beginning of a new phase for Sunny Deol. At the time, there was almost no mainstream conversation about a major resurgence in his career. The media was greatly underestimating Sunny Deol.
Nearly a year before Gadar 2 hit theatres, I clearly identified the window that would trigger Sunny Deol’s comeback.
On March 19, 2023, five months before the film’s release, I reinforced that prediction:
“This is the year of Sunny Deol’s comeback. ‘Gadar 2’ will be a box office success. August 2023 will be a turning point for him.”
At the time, many in the industry remained skeptical. Some dismissed the sequel to a 2001 film as dated. I took a clear position and named both the year and the turning point month.
Then August 2023 arrived.
Gadar 2 stormed the box office and became an unprecedented cultural phenomenon. The film earned over 600 crore rupees and, during its run, emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film in India. It dominated national headlines, sparked celebrations across cinema halls and firmly re-established Sunny Deol as one of the most talked-about actors in the country.
I had specifically identified August 2023 as the turning point. That is precisely when the transformation unfolded.
What I described in 2022 as the start of a new innings translated into one of the most dramatic comebacks in recent Bollywood history. His stature rose sharply. His wealth expanded. Major brand endorsements followed.
I made the initial prediction 15 months before Gadar 2 rewrote the box office narrative.
The timing matched. The scale matched. And the new phase began exactly when I said it would.
